The Project Manager reports directly to the President and owns the schedule, cost, subcontractor performance and the relationship with the government client.
This is a permanent position, not a project-length assignment. Global Go is growing, and the Project Manager is expected to carry projects from one to the next and to take on more as the company grows.
Where you would work
Based in our Birmingham, Alabama office, with regular travel to our project sites across the Southeast. Candidates based near our project sites, working mainly from the site with some travel to Birmingham, will also be considered.
The work
Renovation and new construction on military installations and federal buildings: demolition and abatement, structural and envelope work, roofing, full building systems, interiors and finishes, often with a large share of mechanical, electrical and plumbing work. Global Go is the prime contractor, and most trades are subcontracted under our own site team.
Responsibilities
- Deliver assigned projects from award through final acceptance and closeout: schedule, budget, quality and safety
- Act as the primary point of contact and decision maker on the project, accountable to the President
- Lead project startup: mobilization, site logistics, permits and preconstruction coordination with the designers and the government
- Build, maintain and when needed recover the project schedule, including critical path analysis
- Own the project budget: forecasting, cost to complete and monthly reporting to company leadership
- Manage the prime contract, including modifications, requests for equitable adjustment and change negotiations with the contracting officer
- Prepare the monthly pay applications to federal requirements
- Lead the buyout: scope, bid solicitation and leveling, award recommendations and subcontract execution
- Manage subcontractor performance, coordination and sequencing across all trades, including large mechanical, electrical and plumbing packages
- Review subcontractor change orders, pay applications and lien waivers, and make sure every subcontractor submits complete certified payrolls on time
- Manage long-lead procurement against the schedule
- Work day to day with the government’s field office, including the contracting officer and the contracting officer’s representative
- Run the submittal and RFI process and the progress meetings with the government
- Work closely with the Quality Control Manager, who reports to the President, while preserving that role’s independence
- Enforce the site safety program under EM 385-1-1
- Lead the site team, including the Superintendent, the Site Safety and Health Officer and any project engineers or coordinators on the project
Required qualifications
- At least five comparable construction projects managed, each of $15 million or more, with accountability for schedule, cost and delivery
- Working knowledge of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contracting, administration and documentation
- Able to manage a demanding government client relationship directly
- Experience managing subcontracted trades on commercial or institutional building work
- Strong schedule management, including building and recovering a project schedule
- Davis-Bacon and certified payroll requirements as they apply to subcontractors
Preferred
- Larger Corps of Engineers projects, up to $100 million
- Corps of Engineers work in the Southeast
- Military facilities, NAVFAC, Air Force, GSA or Veterans Affairs work
- Renovation of existing buildings, including work subject to historic preservation requirements
- Renovation with substantial mechanical, electrical and plumbing work in an existing building
- A Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C) certificate, and experience with the Corps’ RMS system
- Estimating and preconstruction ability, to support future pursuits
- OSHA 30
- A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
What Global Go offers
- A direct reporting line to the President, with no layer in between, and real ownership of your own projects
- A privately held company of about twenty people, where your work is visible to ownership every day
- A permanent position, with room to grow into larger leadership, estimating or business development responsibility
- Work concentrated in the Southeast
- Base salary set by experience, a 401(k) with a company match, and, depending on the candidate, a vehicle allowance or a health allowance alongside salary, both negotiable

Build a career where the work actually moves.
We hire people who want their work to matter — on operating sites where the mission keeps running, in logistics lanes that have to clear, and on overseas postings where the schedule isn't negotiable.
Open positions.
We're not always posting roles publicly. If your background fits — government or commercial construction, logistics, procurement, or skilled trades willing to deploy — send your résumé and we'll have a real conversation about whether there's a fit.
What we look for
- Government, DoD, allied, or commercial expeditionary experience
- Comfort with FAR / DFARS, host-nation, or owner reporting
- Active or clearable security background
- Willingness to deploy (for trades & field roles)
- Field discipline on safety and quality
